The 35th Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival , running May 2 to May 10, will screen films, including eight world premieres and a number of works by women filmmakers. For the first time in its history, the fest will open and close with feature films written and directed by Asian Pacific American women. Special Presentations. In during the austere days of Thatcher's Britain, a teenager learns to live life, understand his family, and find his own voice through the music of Bruce Springsteen. A Chinese family discover their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding to gather before she dies.
This Festival is the only one of its kind in the world to have earned this qualification. The Festival presents approximately films and mediaworks that celebrates Asian Pacific filmmakers and stories. The Festival's highlights include an Opening and Closing Night Celebration, a Festival Centerpiece presentation, a full complement of industry panels and workshops, and a variety of special events. Positioned to lead-off annual activities in support of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Festival attracts entertainment celebrities, civic and community leaders, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts in a week-long celebration of the ongoing accomplishments by Asian Pacific cinematic artists. All lengths and genres will be considered.
